Miranda Jane Books

Isn't it crazy that I had no intention of writing a book this year... but here we are.

I'm not one to love the things I do,  but I am obsessed with this book.

I have tried to balance all the things that resonate with children...

family, animals, toilet humour and love.

I cannot wait to see what you think!

...we instantly fell in love. The message of this book hooked us as we learnt fun facts about animals in the most heart-felt, creative way...such a wholesome read. Absolutely reccomend!

The Inspiration

It was a regular day in 2020, and it was my turn on playground duty. As a casual teacher you get plenty of duties, but I didn't mind because I found staff rooms as a casual awkward at times and much preferred to be talking to my new little friends in the playground. I had one particular little grade 1 boy who, whenever he saw me on duty B-lined it for me with a big smile on his face. He always had something random to say or some joke to play on me. On this particular day he said something along the lines of "Miss Taylor, isn't it crazy that if we were seahorses, I'd be the one having the babies.... and if we were peacocks I'd be the pretty one." I laughed and wrote it down as I do with most funny things my students say. About 6 months later I was looking through the quotes wondering if one of them would be clever enough to turn into a book.

All I can say is...YES, there was!!

2hrs later I'd pretty much finished the entire script & "Isn't it Crazy" was born.

About Us

Miranda Jane Taylor

Author

Miranda is a trained Early Childhood and Primary School teacher. She grew up in a small town called Tocumwal on the Murray River, but called Finley her 'home town' as that is where her Dad was born and the town she went to primary and high school. Miranda currently resides in Tweed Heads where she enjoys the beautiful beach of Kirra on a regular basis. Miranda always thought she would like to write a book, but it wasn't until one of her student's quirky comments triggered her a year later to write this beautiful, funny and heartfelt book about animals and families through a child's eye.

It is beautifully illustrated by Emma Louise Clarke who resides in the United Kingdom. Miranda came across Emma on instagram whilst trying to find an illustrator that would match the vision she had. Emma's work caught her attention immediately and Miranda was eager to contact her. Emma loved the book and it wasn't long until they were working together. Emma has illustrated Miranda's vision better than she had ever imagined!
